About SOL
The story of SOURCE OF LEVITATION (SOL for short) goes back to June 2014, when guitarist Denno (BOWTOME, ex-FALLEN YGGDRASIL, ex-FEARPLEASURE, ex-STORMHUNTER) and drummer Andi (ex-HEAP OF RUINS, ex-TRAITOR, BOWTOME) decided to make music together. In the autumn of the same year the two met on the Albtrauf in the Zollernalbkreis district and forged the foundation for SOL. Rehearsals took place in January 2015 and the first musical outpourings began to take shape. From February they found an experienced singer in Thomas (ex-AEVERON, ex-INEXORABLE, ex-COMING FALL, ex-CRUSH, MOSHQUITO). There followed a long period in which the trio diligently wrote more songs. In January 2017 they found a bassist in Evi (ex-MERCADIA, ex-DARK ASSAULT, ex-DESCENT), who completed the line-up.
In spring 2018 SOL recorded two songs as a demo. As session members they recruited Andi's brother Paddi on keyboards, as well as Anja (ex-DEFORMED, ex-METUSA, ex-THE DOLMEN, KYN) on backing vocals, who each provided the necessary variety on one song during the recordings, and with it that certain something. Since 2023 Anja has occasionally appeared as a guest singer with SOL at concerts. In mid-2018 Evi left the band for reasons of time. Emi (ex-STORMHUNTER, ex-SUBSPHERE, ex-NOPLIES, ex-CODE OF SILENCE) promptly took over on bass.
Since March 2020 Tobi (ex-AIMLESS, ex-ROOM7) has completed the line-up on rhythm guitar for the first time. In June 2024 the promo single “Mors Cerebri” was released digitally.
As all the members of SOL | SOURCE OF LEVITATION already have years of experience in various groups of different musical backgrounds, their influences are just as diverse. However, since “pigeonholing” has become unavoidable in the music scene too, SOL think that the label MELODIC DEATH METAL is an adequate point of orientation.
