Since 1996, Sonata Arctica have been shaping the international metal scene with their unique blend of epic Power Metal, catchy melodies and profound lyrics. Founded in the Finnish town of Kemi, the band started out under the name Tricky Beans before making a name for themselves as Sonata Arctica with the album “Ecliptica” (1999) – inspired by Stratovarius, but with their own unmistakable sound: blistering guitars, bombastic keyboards and the crystal-clear voice of Tony Kakko.

With albums such as “Silence” (2001), “Winterheart’s Guild” (2003) and “Reckoning Night” (2004), the band cemented its reputation as one of the most creative and versatile Power Metal bands in the world. Whether anthemic choruses (“Wolf & Raven”), progressive experiments (“Unia”) or dark concept albums (“The Days of Grays”) – Sonata Arctica prove time and again that they know no genre boundaries.

Live, they are an energy bomb: from their first tours of Japan to headline shows in front of 80,000 fans at Wacken Open Air, from acoustic experiments to sold-out halls – the Finns win audiences over with passion, humour and technical precision. With “Talviyö” (2019) and their current album “Clear Cold Beyond” (2024), the band remains a fixture in metal even after 25 years.
