Whatever you call it, Grave Digger are recording the first album of their career completely without keyboard passages. With new guitarist Tobias Kersting, the band returns to long-forgotten trademarks. Raw, brutal, honest and yet catchy, songs like "Bone Collector" or "Made Of Madness" thunder out of the speakers. Groove monsters like "Riders Of Doom" or "Mirror Of Hate" roll along like a steam hammer, and with "The Devils Serenade" the band even pays tribute to the good old days of stadium rock. Away from the concept albums of the last two decades, "Bone Collector" is a manifesto of German Heavy Metal. "Kingdom of Skulls" pays homage to the Grim Reaper, and you can feel the spirit of the 80s without it ever seeming dated. Oldschool at its best, without rust or patina, no self-plagiarism and always authentic – that is how the band's new work can be described. Anyone who thinks they are hearing a rerun of old heroic deeds is mistaken and will be proven wrong by songs like "The Rich The Poor The Dying" or "Whispers Of The Damned".
