About Destruction
Destruction were formed in 1983 and, together with Kreator, Sodom and Tankard, are counted among the “Big Four” of German Thrash Metal. Influenced early on by bands such as Iron Maiden and Venom, they released milestones such as Infernal Overkill (1985) and Release from Agony (1988).
After difficult years in the 1990s, frontman Schmier returned at the turn of the millennium. With the comeback album All Hell Breaks Loose (2000), Destruction regained their old strength and once again became a fixture of the worldwide metal scene.
In the years that followed, acclaimed albums such as Inventor of Evil, Spiritual Genocide and Born to Perish were released. Destruction manage time and again to combine raw old-school thrash with modern production – brutal, precise and full of energy.
In 2022 they released their 15th studio album, Diabolical – produced by Schmier himself. Also included: a cover version of the GBH classic City Baby Attacked by Rats. With it, Destruction show that after more than 40 years they have not got one bit quieter.
